TOPIC: TRUE HELP COMES FROM ABOVE
Bible Reading: Isaiah 29–30; Ephesians 6
“My help cometh from the LORD, which made heaven and earth.” — Psalm 121:2 (KJV)
There is no person on earth who can fulfil God’s purpose for their life without receiving help from others. This is why the situation of the man at the pool of Bethesda was so difficult. When Jesus asked him if he wanted to be made whole, he replied, “Sir, I have no man, when the water is troubled, to put me into the pool” John 5:7 (KJV). However, while God may use people as channels of help, our ultimate source of help is always the Lord. We must therefore position ourselves to continually receive and enjoy the help that comes from above. The Psalmist looked towards the mountains, but his confidence was not in them; he declared, “My help cometh from the LORD, which made heaven and earth” Psalm 121:2 (KJV).
Stop looking for help in the wrong places, because true and lasting help comes only from God. Isaiah 31:1 (KJV) warns, “Woe to them that go down to Egypt for help… but they look not unto the Holy One of Israel, neither seek the LORD!” Human help without God is limited, but when we look completely to God, especially in prayer, He can raise help for us from unexpected sources. Even the king of Israel recognised this truth when he said, “If the LORD do not help thee, whence shall I help thee?” 2 Kings 6:27 (KJV). Therefore, let your trust be firmly established in God, knowing that He is able to provide whatever help you need at the right time and through the right channels.
The greatest help God has given us is the gift of His Son, Jesus Christ, and the presence of the Holy Spirit in us. Jesus said, “But the Comforter, which is the Holy Ghost, whom the Father will send in my name, he shall teach you all things” John 14:26 (KJV). You have the Holy Spirit, your divine Helper, living in you.
Therefore, as you go through each day, acknowledge His presence, depend on His guidance, and trust His power at work in you. Declare with confidence: “Thank You, Holy Spirit, my Helper. I can do all things through Christ which strengtheneth me. I receive every help I need to fulfil God’s purpose and move forward into the next level of His plan for my life, in Jesus’ name.”
Prayer: Father, thank You for being my ever-present Helper. Help me to keep my eyes fixed on You and never place my ultimate trust in human strength or earthly systems.
