TOPIC: KEEP WALKING
Bible Reading: 2 Chronicles 34–35; John 19:1–22
“Yea, though I walk through the valley of the shadow of death, I will fear no evil: for thou art with me; thy rod and thy staff they comfort me.” – Psalm 23:4 (KJV)
As a child of God, you must understand that challenges and difficult seasons are a part of life. Trials, opposition, and various tests will come whether one is a believer or not. However, the difference is that the believer faces life’s battles from a position of victory. In Christ, you have been born an overcomer, and your life is designed to be one of victory upon victory.
There are things that Jesus suffered on your behalf through His death, burial, resurrection, and ascension, such as sin, sickness, poverty, and the oppression of the enemy. These were borne by Him as your Substitute, and there is no reason to bear what Christ has already carried for you. Yet there are also sufferings that Jesus endured as an example for every believer to follow. Apostle Peter writes:“For even hereunto were ye called: because Christ also suffered for us, leaving us an example, that ye should follow his steps: Who did no sin, neither was guile found in his mouth: Who, when he was reviled, reviled not again; when he suffered, he threatened not; but committed himself to him that judgeth righteously.” 1 Peter 2:21–23 (KJV). There may be seasons when it appears that every force of opposition has been unleashed against you. Misunderstandings may arise, false accusations may be spoken, and circumstances may seem overwhelming. In such moments, your confidence must remain in God. Just as Jesus entrusted Himself to the Father, you must trust God to defend, vindicate, and fulfill every promise He has spoken concerning your life.
Every trial is a test of faith. Yet God never permits a test beyond His grace to sustain you. The Scriptures declare: “There hath no temptation taken you but such as is common to man: but God is faithful, who will not suffer you to be tempted above that ye are able; but will with the temptation also make a way to escape, that ye may be able to bear it.” 1 Corinthians 10:13, (KJV)
The life of faith is not the absence of challenges; it is the experience of God’s victory in the midst of challenges. Faith does not deny the existence of difficulties; it overcomes them through unwavering trust in God. Our scripture focus reminds us that even when we walk through the valley of the shadow of death, we don’t have to fear. Notice that David said, “I walk through” the valley. The valley is not your destination; it is only a passage. No matter how dark the season may seem, God’s presence remains with you. His rod and His staff still provide comfort, guidance, and protection.
Therefore, do not stop because of adversity. Do not surrender to discouragement, complaints, fear, or despair. Keep moving forward in faith. Keep trusting God’s Word. Keep believing His promises. The same God who brought you into the valley will bring you safely through it.
You are not walking alone. God is with you, and because you are in Christ, victory is already your inheritance. Whatever challenge stands before you today, remember this truth: you are going through it, not staying in it. So keep walking through.
Prayer: Father, thank You for Your unfailing presence in every season of my life. Help me to trust You when challenges arise and to remain steadfast in faith in Jesus Name.
