TOPIC: BROUGHT INTO SONSHIP AND GOD’S FAMILY
Bible Reading: Jeremiah 17–19; 1 Timothy 6
“For it became him, for whom are all things, and by whom are all things, in bringing many sons unto glory, to make the captain of their salvation perfect through sufferings.” — Hebrews 2:10 (KJV)
Through faith in Jesus Christ, we have been brought into the family of God as His children. To be born again is to receive a new identity and standing before the Father through Christ. God loves us deeply, and we are accepted in the Beloved. Although Jesus is the unique, eternal Son of God, believers have been adopted into God’s family and made heirs with Christ. What a glorious privilege to be called the children of God!
John 1:12–13 (KJV) declares “But as many as received him, to them gave he power to become the sons of God, even to them that believe on his name: [13] Which were born, not of blood, nor of the will of the flesh, nor of the will of man, but of God.” John 3:16 reveals the immeasurable love of God in giving His only begotten Son so that whoever believes in Him should not perish but have everlasting life. Jesus gave Himself for us so that, through faith in His finished work, we might receive eternal life and be brought into God’s family. Our salvation is not earned by our works; it is received by grace through faith. “For by grace are ye saved through faith; and that not of yourselves: it is the gift of God: [9] Not of works, lest any man should boast.” Ephesians 2:8-9 (KJV). We believe in Christ, and through Him we receive the gift of eternal life.
John later describes Jesus Christ as “the first begotten of the dead” Revelation 1:5, declaring His victory over death and His supremacy. Through His death and resurrection, Christ has opened the way for us to become children of God and heirs according to His promise. You have been brought into the glorious position of sonship through Jesus Christ. Therefore, live with the confidence that you belong to God, enjoy the privileges of His grace, and walk in the love and obedience that reflect your identity in Christ.
Prayer: Father, thank You for the gift of eternal life and for the privilege of being called Your child. Help me to understand my identity in Christ Jesus.
