Topic: Stop setting trap for others

Bible Reading: Ecclesiastes 10-12; 1 Corinthians 10:1-13..

Memory Verse: “He that diggeth a pit shall fall into it; and whoso breaketh an hedge, a serpent shall bite him.” Ecclesiastes 10:8 (KJV)

In Daniel 6:4-26, some leaders of the government conspired against Daniel and set a trap for him such that he would be thrown into the den of lions and ended up being killed. They successfully hatched the plans and everything appeared to work accordingly as Daniel fell into the trap and was thrown into the den of Lion. However they did not consider the God factor.

The lions refused to eat Daniel and he was brought out the next day and those who conspired against him were thrown into the same den and the lions fed on them! The conspirators were senior officials of the government of Babylon and were colleagues of Daniel though he was chosen as the most senior of them all. They were jealous of his position and success and so looked for ways of bringing him down.

Setting a trap for someone is a pre-meditated act and it’s often born out of malice and bitterness of heart. Not only that, it has the intention of harming the person. But the word of God says that even if you are offended, do not repay evil with evil but rather overcome evil with good (Romans 12:21)!  So do not join anyone to set trap for others because you do not know why God has allowed such an event and there is nothing done on earth even in secret that God does not know!

Setting trap for others is taking laws into your hand and trying to play God in the life of other people and this cannot go well with God. Is anyone doing better than you, rather than plan for his downfall, try to understudy him and let him teach you the secret of his success,  And if the person offended you, forgive him as required by God and commit  everything to God and He will fight your battle for you. The Bible says in Romans 12:19 (KJV), “Dearly beloved, avenge not yourselves, but rather give place unto wrath: for it is written, Vengeance is mine; I will repay, saith the Lord.”

Always remember that as a child of God, you are expected to  love your enemies and you cannot plan to harm anyone you truly love. So remember always the words of the preacher in Ecclesiastes 10:8 (KJV), “He that diggeth a pit shall fall into it; and whoso breaketh an hedge, a serpent shall bite him.”

Action point: Forgive anyone who has offended you and pray to God to forgive him, that is how to remove the root of bitterness from your heart.
