TOPIC: THE SECRET OF GOD’S PRESENCE

Bible Reading: 2 Chronicles 32–33; John 18:24–40

“With my soul have I desired thee in the night; yea, with my spirit within me will I seek thee early: for when thy judgments are in the earth, the inhabitants of the world will learn righteousness.” – Isaiah 26:9 (KJV)

Constant fellowship with the Holy Spirit opens the door to His guidance, wisdom, and help. This is why every believer must cultivate and practice quiet times—moments deliberately set apart to be alone with God. In the midst of life’s demands and activities, it is easy to become distracted and lose touch with His presence.

David understood this secret. He declared: “O God, thou art my God; early will I seek thee: my soul thirsteth for thee, my flesh longeth for thee in a dry and thirsty land, where no water is.” Psalm 63:1 (KJV). David wrote these words while he was in the wilderness of Judah, fleeing from Saul who sought to kill him (1 Samuel 22:1–5). Despite the pressures and uncertainties surrounding him, his greatest desire was to spend time in God’s presence. He knew that communion with God was the source of his strength, wisdom, and victory.

Throughout Scripture, we see a consistent pattern among those whom God used mightily—they learned to seek Him early. Jesus demonstrated this lifestyle: “And in the morning, rising up a great while before day, he went out, and departed into a solitary place, and there prayed.” Mark 1:35, (KJV).

The habit of beginning your day in God’s presence is a key to victorious living. Before the demands of the day arise, before distractions compete for your attention, seek the Lord. Jesus consistently sought the Father in prayer, and as a result, many sought Him because of the power and wisdom evident in His life and ministry.
The presence of God has the power to make your life a testimony. This promise is not limited to pastors or ministry leaders; it belongs to every believer who consistently abides in God’s presence. As you remain connected to Him, your life will produce results that cause others to marvel, not because of your strength, but because of His grace at work in you. This is the picture presented in Psalm1:3 (KJV): “And he shall be like a tree planted by the rivers of water, that bringeth forth his fruit in his season; his leaf also shall not wither; and whatsoever he doeth shall prosper.”

One of the secrets to a fruitful and prosperous life is learning to spend time in God’s presence, especially at the start of your day. This is far more than a religious routine; it is the lifestyle of a person planted by the rivers of living water. Make your fellowship with God a priority. Plan your day around your time with Him. As you do, you will experience increasing fruitfulness, stability, and success in every area of life.

Prayer: Father, thank You for the gift of Your Holy Spirit. Help me to cultivate a consistent life of early fellowship with You.

Pastor Alfred Samuel
