TOPIC: BE SPIRITUALLY MINDED
Bible Reading: 2 Chronicles 29–31; John 18
“For to be carnally minded is death; but to be spiritually minded is life and peace.” — Romans 8:6 (KJV)
Life is spiritual, and it is lived from the inward man before it is expressed outwardly. As believers, we have received eternal life, peace with God, and the assurance of our eternal destiny. These are treasures beyond comparison. Yet many Christians fail to enjoy the fullness of these blessings because their minds are focused on the wrong things.
The day you were born again, many blessings became yours through your union with Christ. These include peace, healing, divine provision, and spiritual empowerment. Hebrews 6:9 (KJV) says, “But, beloved, we are persuaded better things of you, and things that accompany salvation, though we thus speak.” However, these realities become your daily experience as you set your mind on them and meditate upon God’s Word.
The quality of your life is greatly influenced by the quality of your thoughts. Therefore, you must keep your mind fixed on spiritual truths, because life is first spiritual before it is physical. What takes place in your mind will eventually shape your outward experiences.
Our text scripture, Romans 8:6 (KJV) declares, “For to be carnally minded is death; but to be spiritually minded is life and peace.” To be carnally minded is to be governed solely by natural circumstances, feelings, and sensory perceptions. A person who continually focuses on symptoms, lack, disappointments, fears, or comparisons with others will inevitably experience frustration and defeat. But the believer who chooses to focus on God’s truth will walk in life, peace, and victory.
This is why it is essential to keep God’s Word continually before you. Hold firmly to the truths that belong to you because of your relationship with Christ. “In whom we have redemption through his blood, even the forgiveness of sins.” Colossians 1:14 (KJV). To be spiritually minded means that you embrace this truth and allow it to shape your perspective. You begin to see yourself as redeemed, accepted, empowered, and victorious through the blood of Jesus Christ.
As you continually meditate on God’s promises, your faith is strengthened, your perspective changes, and you begin to experience the life and peace that belong to you in Christ.
Prayer: Father, help me to set my mind on spiritual things and to continually fill my thoughts with Your Word In Jesus’ name.
