TOPIC: AUTHENTICATE HIS LEADING
Bible Reading: 2 Chronicles 26-28; John 17
“Prove all things; hold fast that which is good.” — 1 Thessalonians 5:21 (KJV)
As believers, receiving an impression, instruction, or direction concerning any area of our lives should never exempt us from testing its authenticity. God expects us to discern His voice and confirm that what we have received truly originates from Him. Spiritual maturity requires that we carefully examine every leading before acting upon it.
Proverbs 14:12 (KJV) says, “There is a way which seemeth right unto a man, but the end thereof are the ways of death”. Not everything that appears right is God’s will. Therefore, every instruction should be weighed against the Word of God and confirmed by the inward witness of the Holy Spirit.
One of the foremost signs that helps us to confirm God’s guidance is peace. Psalm 85:8 says, “I will hear what God the LORD will speak: for he will speak peace unto his people, and to his saints.” God’s guidance carries His peace, even when the assignment itself is challenging. His purpose never produces confusion or torment but brings rest to the heart of the one who trusts Him. This principle also applies to relationships, career decisions, ministry assignments, and major life choices. If a decision continually robs you of God’s peace and produces persistent inner unrest, it is wise to pause and seek further confirmation. Jeremiah 6:16 reminds us that walking in God’s way brings “rest for your souls,” while Isaiah 26:3 (KJV) assures us, “Thou wilt keep him in perfect peace, whose mind is stayed on thee: because he trusteth in thee.”
Another important characteristic of God’s leading is plainness/clarity. Habakkuk 2:2 (KJV) says, “Write the vision, and make it plain upon tables, that he may run that readeth it.” God is not the author of confusion. While His plans may unfold progressively, His instructions are communicated with clarity and purpose. As we wait upon Him, He gives understanding that produces confidence rather than uncertainty. If you consistently find confusion or spiritual dullness regarding a particular direction, it may be wise to wait before proceeding and seek further confirmation from the Lord through His Word, prayer, and the inward witness of the Holy Spirit.
As a true believer, always test every leading by God’s Word and allow His peace and clarity to guide your decisions. As you do, you will walk confidently in His perfect will and avoid unnecessary mistakes.
Prayer: Father, let Your peace, clarity, and divine grace direct every decision I make, that I may walk continually in Your perfect will in Jesus’ name, Amen.
