Topic: All shall die
Bible Reading: Ecclesiastes 1-3; 1 Corinthians 7:25-40.
Memory Verse: “All go unto one place; all are of the dust, and all turn to dust again.” Ecclesiastes 3:20 (KJV)
Have you tried to review this journey of life? One is born to the world and after growing through various stages of life, dies and another chapter is opened. However before death, you try to acquire so much within the short time, first self development, then you move to acquisition of assets and finally death knocks at the door. Ecclesiastes 3:20 (KJV) says, “All go unto one place; all are of the dust, and all turn to dust again.” So no matter your position, status, race or gender, all will end up being turned into dust! Then why the race for so much acquisition? Moreso, should one not ask himself what happens to him after death.
Some unbelievers have said, you wil cease to exist after death thus justifying that you can live anyhow on earth. On the other hand, I always ask such people, if they are wrong and there is judgment after death, how will they cope? Does wisdom not require that you prepare for such a risk?. Besides, once you leave the world, that is the end of the enjoyment you can get from all your acquisitions. This is why Ecclesiastes 3:22 (KJV) says, “Wherefore I perceive that there is nothing better, than that a man should rejoice in his own works; for that is his portion: for who shall bring him to see what shall be after him?” Enjoy the work of your hand while alive because once dead, you can no longer enjoy such benefits. Or have you seen anyone writing a will and allocating any portion of his property to himself? After death, he is no longer relevant!
I see some men acquiring so much properties and you wonder when they will enjoy such assets and what is the benefit of competing to construct the newest design of buildings when you can hardly live there after completion. This is what the Preacher referred to as Vanity upon vanity. He says in Ecclesiastes 1:14 (KJV), “I have seen all the works that are done under the sun; and, behold, all is vanity and vexation of spirit.” So as a child of God, you should be concerned more about what happens after you leave this earth. This is why you should have an intimate relationship with Lord Jesus and live your life in accordance with His words. For we all know that death is certain for everyone and so you should not live like unbelievers! Make as much impact on lives of others around you as you can.
Prayer point: Father, please make me eternity-focused in all I do.
