Topic: Praying according to the Will of God
Bible Reading: Psalm 122-125; Romans 8:19-39.
Memory Verse: “And he that searcheth the hearts knoweth what is the mind of the Spirit, because he maketh intercession for the saints according to the will of God.” Romans 8:27 (KJV)
1 John 5:14 (KJV) says, “And this is the confidence that we have in him, that, if we ask any thing according to his will, he heareth us:”. Thus, if you want God to hear and answer your prayers, you need to pray according to His will. The question then is how do you know His will concerning every situation.? The Will of God is revealed in His word, the Bible. This is why you should study the word regularly. The more you study and meditate on the word of God, the greater revelation you will get and the better you become in knowing His will. That is why it’s important that when you hear messages of men of God, you should search the Bible to confirm the teachings. This is what the Bible says of the Berean Christians. Acts 17:10-11 (KJV) say, “And the brethren immediately sent away Paul and Silas by night unto Berea: who coming thither went into the synagogue of the Jews. [11] These were more noble than those in Thessalonica, in that they received the word with all readiness of mind, and searched the scriptures daily, whether those things were so.”
However, there may be specific issues that are not directly covered by the word of God, in that case, you should seek counsel from men of God while you also pray for God to reveal His will concerning the matter to you. But the best way to ensure you pray in accordance with God’s will in the matter is by praying in the Holy Ghost. The Bible says in Romans 8:26 (KJV), “Likewise the Spirit also helpeth our infirmities: for we know not what we should pray for as we ought: but the Spirit itself maketh intercession for us with groanings which cannot be uttered.” Since you do not know the will of God concerning the situation, but the Holy Spirit knows it and the yearnings in your spirt and so when you pray in the Holy Ghost, your yearnings are placed before God in the form that complies with the Will of God and thus ensures God hears and answers your prayer. Romans 8:27 (KJV) confirms this : “And he that searcheth the hearts knoweth what is the mind of the Spirit, because he maketh intercession for the saints according to the will of God.”
So what matter is troubling you or do you have issues that you wonder the will of God concerning the matter? just pray in the Holy Ghost and you will be surprised how the answers come. I have personally noticed that the more I engage in praying in the Holy Ghost, the more the word of God in Romans 8:28 (KJV) “And we know that all things work together for good to them that love God, to them who are the called according to his purpose.” becomes a reality in my life.
You need to do this regularly for it to have the expected impact in your life. Remember, you are enjoined to pray without ceasing. You can start with 5 minutes, then increase to 10, 15, 20, 30, 60 minutes and more daily and you will notice the impact upon your life. However, if you are unable to speak in tongues yet, and you desire it, just pray for it in faith expecting the power of the Holy Spirit to fall on you any moment. And certainly you will get it because Proverbs 23:18 (KJV) says, “For surely there is an end; and thine expectation shall not be cut off.”
Action point: Pray daily consistently in tongues for a minimum of 30 minutes.
